Year 1 -4 students have been learning about how the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated. They made lanterns and had a taste of moon cakes with the flavour of lotus seed paste and salty duck eggs. There were mixed reactions from the students: some absolutely loved it whereas others found it difficult to swallow. It was great to see the students being adventurous enough to try something new.
The Year 3 & 4 students have been practising words and phrases on the topic of Family. They learnt to say Nǐ yǒu méi yǒu .....? The Year 1 & 2 students are learning to name the characters in the story ‘The Giant Turnip’ in Chinese. They listened to the story read to them and had fun doing the actions associated with the meaning of the phrases, such as 快点来 kuài diǎn lái (Come quickly.) and 来了,来了 lái le lái le (Coming, coming). The students also made mini books to share with others.
The Year 3 & 4 students have been using the resources on the Chinese website to revise the words and phrases learnt in class. There are limited headphones available for use in the Language classroom, so some students had to share. It is acceptable for students to bring along their own to use in class, if they wish.
