The Grade 3, 4 & 5 students worked really well this term and they finished their last Chinese class for the year this week. They should all be commended for their positive attitude at taking on new challenges that often come with learning a new language.
I would encourage the students to keep up with their language skills by regularly visiting some of the resources posted on this website. Here is the video requested by the Grade 4 students on learning how to fold paper rice dumplings 纸粽子zhǐ zòngzi for the Dragon Boat Festival celebration.
The Foundation, Grade 1, 2 and 6 students will have their turn to learn Chinese next semester. I am looking forward to teaching them and meeting our new foundation students.
Wishing you a very safe and happy holiday!

The students learnt about the Dragon Boat Festival (端午节 Duān wǔ jié) this week. The festival is celebrated on 9 June 2016.
It is the day to commemorate the famous poet 屈原 Qū Yuán who was drowned in the Miluo river in China 2,000 years ago. Chinese people celebrate the day by eating rice dumplings (粽子Zòngzi) and having dragon boat races. The students were very interested in learning about the history behind the festival and had lots of fun making paper dragon boats, paper dumplings and playing the dragon boat race board game. |
