Grade 5 & 6s are learning words related to the topic of 'Positive Personality traits'. They practised using adjectives to describe someone, such as 感恩的 (grateful)， 投入的 (engaged). They focused on what kind of positive personality traits other people have. They also learnt to change a noun to an adjective. The students really enjoyed learning these words and the activities involved.
Grade 3 & 4s have been learning to describe ones abilities and preferences. They learnt to describe what someone can and loves to do. They have finished making a mini book where they had to fill in the missing word in a sentence. They enjoyed reading the mini books and sharing with other classmates.
This week, the Grade 3 - 6 students learnt the expression 'mǎmǎ hūhū', which means 'average/okay'. There is a story behind this expression as to why it literally means 'horse horse tiger tiger'. The students watched the story on an animated video as below. They also learnt how to write these two Chinese characters; 马 (horse) and 虎 (tiger).
Students were looking refreshed and ready for the new Term. This week, Grade 3 & 4 students learnt to use the measure word 'Zhi' to count animals. They enjoyed singing this song 'The Ten Little Dinosaurs' while practising counting.
Grade 5 & 6 students have started learning to read Chinese characters that are symmetrical, such as 十， 中，草，田. They learnt to fold a piece of square paper in half, draw half of the character, cut and unfold the paper to view the whole character. They then used the cutouts to make a poster.
The Grade 3 and 4 students have learnt about the Chinese Zodiac animal signs. They listened to the Zodiac story and practised reading the words through various language games.
The Grade 5 & 6 students are very interested in learning about China. Through various reading activities, they learnt facts such as how long the Great Wall of China is and what the Chinese flag represents.
