Grade 1 & 2 students have been learning to say the names of the food in the story of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar' in Mandarin Chinese. They played a game called 'Shitou, Jiandao, Bu' where they had to play 'paper, scissors, rock' to decide who could get to say the words first. Students enjoyed saying the new words while playing the game.
Grade 5 & 6s are learning words related to the topic of 'Positive Personality traits'. They practised using adjectives to describe someone, such as 感恩的 (grateful)， 投入的 (engaged). They focused on what kind of positive personality traits other people have. They also learnt to change a noun to an adjective. The students really enjoyed learning these words and the activities involved.
Grade 3 & 4s have been learning to describe ones abilities and preferences. They learnt to describe what someone can and loves to do. They have finished making a mini book where they had to fill in the missing word in a sentence. They enjoyed reading the mini books and sharing with other classmates.
This week, the Grade 3 - 6 students learnt the expression 'mǎmǎ hūhū', which means 'average/okay'. There is a story behind this expression as to why it literally means 'horse horse tiger tiger'. The students watched the story on an animated video as below. They also learnt how to write these two Chinese characters; 马 (horse) and 虎 (tiger).
